Africa Celebrates Tourism Excellence at VIP Event in Kenya
AFRICAN WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS 2024 HONORED IN A GRAND EVENT IN DIANI BEACH, KENYA, SHOWCASING LEADING TRAVEL INNOVATORS.
Africa’s tourism leaders gathered at Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort in Diani Beach, Kenya, for the 2024 World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony. The event celebrated top travel organizations showcasing excellence and innovation.
Tanzania stood out by winning two major awards: ‘Africa’s Leading Destination’ and ‘Africa’s Leading Tourist Board.’ The country’s renowned Serengeti National Park was named ‘Africa’s Leading National Park,’ while Mount Kilimanjaro claimed the title of ‘Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction.’
Newcomers Shine at 2024 World Travel Awards Africa
In the newcomer categories, Angama Amboseli, a luxury tented lodge in Kenya’s Kimana Sanctuary, earned the title of ‘Africa’s Leading New Hotel.’ Meanwhile, Morocco’s St. Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort in Tamuda Bay was awarded ‘Africa’s Leading New Resort.’
Diani Beach was honored at African World Travel Award as ‘Africa’s Leading Beach Destination,’ while Nairobi took home the award for ‘Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination.’ Additionally, the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club was recognized as ‘Africa’s Leading Hotel,’ and Somerset Westview in Nairobi won ‘Africa’s Leading Serviced Apartments.’
Kenyan Hospitality Industry Shines Bright
Durban continued to gain recognition as a business hub, being named ‘Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination.’ The Port of Cape Town also made headlines as ‘Africa’s Leading Cruise Port.’ Kenya Airways was a star in the aviation sector, winning ‘Africa’s Leading Airline’ and ‘Africa’s Leading Airline – Business Class.’ Jomo Kenyatta International Airport was named ‘Africa’s Leading Airport.’
Graham Cooke, Founder of the World Travel Awards, praised the winners for their contributions to Africa’s thriving tourism. Andrew Cook, General Manager at Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort, expressed pride in hosting the ceremony, highlighting its importance for Kenya’s luxury travel market.
