Ascott, a renowned hospitality group, is expanding its Citadines aparthotel brand with the launch of Citadines City Centre Djibouti in 2024. Citadines City Centre Djibouti will offer a variety of accommodation options, including studio-, one-, and two-bedroom apartments. With 83 units in total, the aparthotel will cater to the needs of both residents and visitors. Guests can enjoy convenient amenities such as a gymnasium, meeting rooms, a residents’ lounge, and a restaurant.

Fatima Zahra Muhammad, the general manager at Salaam Properties, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Ascott. Muhammad emphasized the need for hotel apartments with international standards in Djibouti to meet the rising demand from business travelers. By collaborating with Ascott, Salaam Properties aims to enhance the city’s hospitality offerings and provide a first-of-its-kind experience in Djibouti.

Introducing Citadines to Djibouti’s Hospitality Landscape

Vincent Miccolis, the Managing Director for Middle East, Africa, Turkey, and India at The Ascott Limited, shared his excitement about introducing the award-winning Citadines brand to Djibouti’s evolving hospitality market. He described Citadines as a popular choice among vibrant travelers worldwide, offering the flexibility and practicality of a serviced apartment combined with hotel services and locally influenced experiences. Miccolis confidently predicted that Citadines City Centre Djibouti would become a highly sought-after destination for both global and local travelers.

Citadines has an active pipeline of aparthotels across Africa. In Ethiopia, Citadines Bole Addis Ababa is currently under development in the capital city. The property will consist of 137 keys, including studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments. It will feature a gymnasium, a residents’ lounge, and a restaurant, with completion scheduled for Q2 2025.

Meanwhile, in the Nigerian capital of Lagos, the 157-room Citadines PurpleLekki Lagos is set to be delivered in Q4 2023. Further expanding its footprint, Ascott will also open the 150-key Citadines City Centre Yaounde in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé, in 2024.
