Emirates To Add Fourth Daily Flight to Johannesburg
EMIRATES IS GOING TO ADD A FOURTH DAILY FLIGHT TO JOHANNESBURG IN MARCH 2025, INCREASING TRAVEL AND CARGO CAPACITY WHILE STRENGTHENING GLOBAL CONNECTIVITY.
Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, is set to enhance connectivity to Johannesburg by adding a fourth daily flight. Starting on March 1, 2025, the new service will operate on a Boeing 777-300ER, offering three travel classes. This move follows the launch of a second daily A380 service between Dubai and Johannesburg on September 1, 2024, reinforcing South Africa’s significance in the airline’s network.
Emirates Expanded Travel Options for Business and Leisure
With the addition of the fourth daily flight, Emirates will provide an extra 708 seats each day to and from Johannesburg. The flight, EK767, will depart Dubai at 00:10hrs and arrive in Johannesburg at 06:20hrs. The return flight, EK768, will leave Johannesburg at 10:15hrs and reach Dubai by 20:15hrs. This expanded schedule introduces a morning departure from Johannesburg, catering to both business and leisure travelers.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, expressed the airline’s commitment to South Africa. “The fourth daily flight helps us better serve growing demand while restoring pre-pandemic flight capacity. We’re thankful to South African authorities for their continued partnership,” said Kazim. He added that Emirates remains dedicated to boosting South Africa’s tourism industry and encouraging foreign investment.
Strengthening Global Connectivity
Emirates’ new daily flight not only enhances travel options but also strengthens its global connectivity. The airline’s extensive network includes over 140 destinations, with key routes to Dubai, India, Thailand, and major European cities like London, Paris, and Frankfurt.
Passengers flying to Johannesburg will also benefit from seamless connections to over 60 African destinations. Through longstanding codeshare agreements with South African Airways, Emirates offers single-ticket travel across three South African gateways. Further agreements with Airlink, Cemair, and FlySafair provide access to regional and domestic destinations like Port Elizabeth, George, Margate, and Plettenberg Bay.
Along with enhanced passenger travel, Emirates’ new flight increases cargo capacity between South Africa and its global markets. The Boeing 777-300ER can carry an additional 300 tonnes of cargo per week, enabling the swift transportation of key goods like fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood, and flowers. This added cargo space connects South African businesses to major global hubs, including London, Madrid, Hong Kong, and Dubai.

For nearly three decades, Emirates has been a trusted partner of South Africa’s aviation and tourism sectors. Since launching its first flight to Johannesburg in 1995, the airline has expanded its presence with additional flights to Cape Town and Durban. Over 20 million passengers have flown with Emirates to and from South Africa.
In 2011, Emirates introduced its flagship A380 to Johannesburg, providing passengers with a world-class flying experience. Today, the airline operates two daily A380 flights from Johannesburg.
