In 2016, GJ Architects, a local architecture firm, embarked on the construction of Angels View. Collaborating with architect Peter Rich, known for his contribution to indigenous African architecture and integration with the environment, resulted in the creation of the environmentally-inspired Earth Grotto suites along the stunning Drakensberg escarpment. Peter Rich’s design of the interpretation center at Mapungubwe won the Building of the Year award at the World Architecture Festival in 2009.
