IHG Hotels & Resorts, a global hospitality leader, has partnered with Maxim Hotels and Resorts Management to bring its Vignette Collection brand to Egypt. The new Vignette Collection Hotel Royal Maxim Port Said is scheduled to open in December 2027. The hotel aims to combine heritage with contemporary luxury, offering a unique and authentic experience for guests in Port Said.

The 140-room hotel will consist of two sections, each with 70 rooms. The first section will be a restored heritage building that once housed the Suez Canal Authorities, offering stunning canal views. The second section will be a newly constructed beachfront property, giving guests easy access to the shore and a modern coastal experience.

Vignette Collection Brand: Expanding IHG’s Luxury Portfolio

Vignette Collection is part of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, focusing on exclusive, one-of-a-kind hotels. It caters to guests who seek diverse and enriching stay experiences in prime urban and resort locations. The brand allows owners of independent hotels to maintain their unique identities while benefiting from IHG’s global scale and expertise.

Haitham Mattar, IHG’s Managing Director for India, the Middle East, and Africa (IMEA), expressed excitement about the partnership with Maxim Hotels. He highlighted the brand’s conversion-friendly approach and its commitment to offering unique luxury experiences. “Vignette Collection Hotel Royal Maxim Port Said will be located in one of Egypt’s most historical landmarks, tied to the Suez Canal, making it a strategic and historical attraction,” he said.

Mattar also mentioned Egypt’s robust hospitality sector, aiming to create 400,000 hotel rooms by 2028. He emphasized IHG’s role in supporting this growth with its luxury and lifestyle brands. The new Vignette Collection Hotel aligns with IHG’s ambitious expansion plans in Egypt and the wider region.

Dr. Mohamed Karrar, Managing Director at Maxim Hotels, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with IHG. He noted that IHG’s global reach, loyalty program, and local expertise would ensure the hotel’s success. “The hotel’s location at Port Said, near the Suez Canal, adds to its appeal, offering guests a blend of luxury, history, and local immersion,” he added.

A Blend of Heritage, Luxury, and Local Experience

The Vignette Collection is IHG’s first collection brand, featuring unique properties in highly sought-after destinations. It appeals to next-generation luxury travelers who value responsibility, community, and locality. Guests can expect stays that combine these values with the reassurance of IHG’s trusted reputation and loyalty program.

IHG currently operates seven hotels across four brands in Egypt, including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, and Staybridge Suites. The company has a robust pipeline of 21 hotels planned to open in the next 3-5 years. The new Vignette Collection Hotel in Port Said will join the brand’s existing properties worldwide.
