Marriott International, Inc. has announced a partnership with Delaware Investment Limited to establish its inaugural JW Marriott luxury safari lodge in the Serengeti, Tanzania. This marks the brand’s first foray into Tanzania and reinforces its commitment to providing transformative guest experiences. The lodge is set to open in 2026 and will be located within the Serengeti National Park, an esteemed UNESCO World Heritage Site and a renowned safari destination in Africa. With its vast plains, remarkable Great Migration, and impressive wildlife herds, the Serengeti is an unparalleled natural wonder.

JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge will offer 30 private suites and each suite will feature its own swimming pool and deck area, ensuring a truly exclusive and luxurious experience. Furthermore, the lodge plans to provide extensive dining, beverage, and meeting facilities to cater to the diverse needs of its guests.

Breathtaking Location Amidst Wildlife and Scenic Landscapes

Nestled between the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers, JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge will offer breathtaking views of the surrounding plains. Serengeti National Park spans an impressive 5,700 square miles, serving as a wilderness area in sub-Saharan Africa. It is renowned for hosting one of Africa’s most extraordinary natural phenomena—the Great Migration. Each year, between June and September, millions of animals travel 1,800 miles from the Serengeti to the nearby Masai Mara. Additionally, the Serengeti is home to the iconic “Big Five” game animals, including lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinoceroses, and African elephants.

Jenni Benzaquen, SVP, Brand Portfolio Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Marriott International, expressed excitement about the partnership with Delaware Investment Limited and the significance of the Serengeti venture. Benzaquen highlighted the lodge’s role in expanding the brand’s portfolio and its dedication to curating enriching experiences for guests.

Visitors from abroad can reach the lodge by flying to Kilimanjaro International Airport and then taking a domestic flight to an airstrip located in Serengeti. Alternatively, they can embark on an eight-hour drive, which offers picturesque views of vast savannas and wildlife along the route.
