Qatar Airways Launches New Route to Kinshasa, DRC

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways has expanded its African network with a new route to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The first flight from Doha landed at N’djili International Airport on June 1, 2024, marking Kinshasa as the airline’s 29th destination in Africa. This route will connect the DRC to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia via Qatar Airways’ Doha hub, Hamad International Airport.

Qatar Airways: Enhancing Connectivity Across Africa

This new route enhances air connectivity across Africa. Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, emphasized the airline’s commitment to Africa’s potential. He stated, “We aim to boost connectivity in Africa, offering seamless travel options through our award-winning hub.” This expansion will facilitate business and leisure travel, promoting stronger economic and cultural ties.

Qatar Airways will operate four weekly flights to Kinshasa. Additionally, the airline will increase flights to Luanda, Angola, from one to four per week. This complements Airways’ extensive network of over 170 weekly flights across Africa. Since December 2020, the airline has added nine new African destinations, including Abidjan, Abuja, Accra, and others.

Optimized Schedules for Global Connectivity

In the past year, Qatar Airways has optimized schedules in Africa for better connectivity to China. The new Kinshasa route conveniently connects with key markets such as Belgium, France, Portugal, and the Middle East. This ensures passengers have more travel options and efficient connections.

Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC, is the third-largest city in Africa, after Cairo and Lagos. It serves as an economic hub, offering numerous investment and tourism opportunities. The city, situated along the Congo River, is known for its cultural diversity, vibrant music scene, and pristine nature, attracting both business travelers and tourists.
