Rotana Hotel’s Progress in the Middle East and Africa

SUMMARY – ROTANA HOTEL BRAND EXPANDS ACROSS MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA WITH NEW HOTELS AND BRAND DEVELOPMENT, PROMISING A BRIGHT FUTURE IN 2023.


Rotana is expanding its presence in Africa with the upcoming launch of Azure Rotana Resort & Spa in Oran, Algeria, scheduled for Q2 2023. This move highlights Rotana’s strong focus on expansion in the African market.

Luxor Rotana, set to open by the end of 2023, is one of six new Rotana hotels planned for Egypt. The company has additional properties in the pipeline for New Cairo and the popular North Coast in 2024. Rotana has recently inked a preliminary agreement to establish a luxurious five-star resort in Benin, which is located in West Africa.

Rotana is further solidifying its position in the Middle East’s hospitality market with several new openings on the horizon. A management agreement has been signed for Bloom Arjaan by Rotana in Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island, UAE. In Oman, Rotana’s new hotel in Muscat’s Al Mouj development is set to open in Q1 of next year. The group has also secured The Residences by Rotana to offer villa accommodation in Bodrum, Turkey, on the Aegean Sea. Additionally, two new properties, Bin Al Sheikh Residences by Rotana and Riviera Rayhaan by Rotana, will open in Doha, Qatar, adding 688 keys to the existing portfolio.

Developing Edge by Rotana

Rotana continues to develop its newest brand, Edge by Rotana. Launched in May 2022, this collection of independent properties maintains their individuality while leveraging Rotana’s extensive network and systems. Rotana aims to operate around 30 Edge by Rotana properties in the region by 2027. Recently, two new Edge by Rotana-managed hotels, Arabian Park and Damac Hills 2, were announced in Dubai, UAE. An agreement has also been signed for an Edge by Rotana hotel in Istanbul.

This year, Rotana announced the opening of the first five-star hotel in Dammam, Dana Rayhaan by Rotana, as well as Slemani Rotana in Sulaymaniyah. Additionally, Johari Rotana in Tanzania has been relaunched, showcasing Rotana’s commitment to expanding its portfolio and presence in different regions.

Promising Outlook for 2023

Guy Hutchinson, president and CEO of Rotana, expressed optimism for the future, stating that after a successful year of sustained performance and expansion, they are preparing for an even more promising 2023. Hutchinson emphasized their mission to deliver “treasured times” to guests worldwide and their collaboration with regional destination boards to boost tourism.
