A Historic Gem Gets a Modern Makeover
Kasr Al Bahr, which means “castle of the sea,” served as a grand royal summer palace in the 19th century. It later functioned as a military hospital until its closure in 1999. The sprawling five-hectare (12-acre) retreat, perched on a cliffside, has undergone extensive renovations. The transformed property will feature 204 luxurious rooms and suites with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.
“With our successful properties in Marrakech and Casablanca, Four Seasons is excited to strengthen its foothold in Morocco’s capital city,” says Bart Carnahan, President of Global Business Development and Portfolio Management at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. “Atlantic Coast Hospitality has chosen us as the custodians of Kasr Al Bahr, and we feel incredibly honored. Our guests can expect a new level of luxury hospitality that reflects our commitment to personalized service and exceptional quality.”
Rabat, Morocco’s capital, is located on the picturesque Atlantic Ocean coastline. It seamlessly combines historical treasures with modern attractions, catering to discerning luxury travelers. The city boasts UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Oudayas, which showcase its French and Islamic influences. Visitors can also enjoy the city’s beautiful beaches, vibrant music festivals, and extensive green spaces spanning over 202 hectares (500 acres) of serene parks.
A Transformation Guided by Excellence
Malik Awan, Director of Q Holding, expresses pride in highlighting Rabat’s rich history and culture while creating a world-class hospitality experience. Awan emphasizes that Four Seasons is the perfect partner for this significant project. Together, they are committed to honoring the property’s exceptional legacy while delivering the unparalleled service and experiences synonymous with the Four Seasons brand.
Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr will boast seven exquisite restaurants and lounges, a spa featuring well-appointed treatment rooms and an indoor pool, multiple outdoor resort-style pools, and expansive conference and event spaces. META Atelier d’Architecture’s Karim Chakor, a Moroccan-based architect, has skillfully led the restoration of the hotel. The interior design, landscaping, and more will be handled by the renowned Roger Nazarian and Associates.
Leading the hotel as General Manager will be Gregory Viaud, a seasoned professional with over 19 years of experience across various Four Seasons properties worldwide. Viaud, who previously oversaw the opening of Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center, most recently served as the Resort Manager at Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort.
