THE BEECHWOOD HOTEL OPENS SOUTH AFRICAN VINEYARD, AIMING TO SELL 40,000 BOTTLES OF ITS UNIQUE WINE ANNUALLY. THE HOTEL OFFERS TEN TYPES OF WINES.

The Beechwood Hotel, an award-winning establishment in North Norfolk, has opened a vineyard in South Africa with the goal of selling 40,000 bottles of wine annually. The hotel began making wine in October 2022 at its 13-hectare Mallasat vineyard located near Paarl, 45 minutes from Cape Town.

Currently, the hotel is selling 1,000 bottles of wine each month to local businesses and restaurant patrons. The Beechwood Hotel offers ten different types of wines, including the unique White Pinotage, which is made from red grapes and has a slightly nutty and creamy character that balances tropical fruit and banana flavors.

Owner Hugh Asher said that opening the vineyard has allowed the hotel to differentiate itself from competitors by daring to be different. The hotel plans to sell 20,000 bottles in the UK and the remainder internationally, with wine available for purchase at the hotel’s reception.
