In a significant move, Zanzibar’s tourism is set to soar as the government collaborates with English football giants, Chelsea FC. Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi welcomed Chelsea FC’s Head of Global Sales, Barnes Hampel, and his delegation at the State House on February 1, 2024.

Chelsea: Promoting Tourism and Football Development in Zanzibar

The meeting aimed to bolster Zanzibar’s tourism sector while fostering football development on the archipelago, including the establishment of football academies within the Isles.

Hampel and his team schedule their Tanzanian tour to meet with the Minister of Culture, Arts, & Sports, Mr. Damas Ndumbaro. Their agenda includes exploring sports development initiatives, reinforcing the collaboration’s multifaceted impact on both tourism and local sports.

Chelsea FC coordinator in Tanzania, Mr. Mohamed Reza Saboor, confirmed the delegation’s goal to secure an audience with President Samia Suluhu Hassan, highlighting the broad scope of their engagement.
