Readers’ Choice Award for Top 5 Resorts in Africa
Every year, Travel and Leisure’s World’s Best Awards competition invites readers to cast their votes for the best travel and tourism experiences. In this year’s competition, The Victoria Falls Hotel secured a spot among the top five resorts in Africa, boasting an impressive reader score of 87.75. The category winner happened to be a wine estate venue in South Africa.

A Respected Travel Authority
Travel and Leisure magazine, a publication with a history dating back to 1937, is published by Dotdash Meredith in New York. With a readership of over 4.8 million and a circulation nearing one million copies per issue, it ranks as one of the world’s top two travel publications, significantly influencing various segments of travelers.
This prestigious recognition for The Victoria Falls Hotel comes on the heels of two other recent awards. In February, the Victoria Falls Hotel Partnership, which operates the establishment, was honored with the Tourism Business of the Year Award at the inaugural Twalumba Awards—a national travel and tourism awards event in Zimbabwe.
More recently, the Matabeleland branch of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce bestowed the Exporter of the Year 2023 – Non-consumptive Tourism award upon the hotel.
A Rich History and Exciting Future
The Victoria Falls Hotel is poised to celebrate its 120th anniversary next year, marking 12 decades of exceptional service to both local and international visitors. The hotel has just completed the first phase of a multi-million-dollar refurbishment program, which included substantial upgrades to suites, bedrooms, public areas, and dining venues.
A second phase is slated for early next year, perfectly timed for the anniversary celebrations. As the first hotel established at Victoria Falls, it offers breathtaking views of the falls and the iconic road and rail bridge spanning the Zambezi River, connecting southern and central Africa.
