Hilton to Open New Hotel in Ghana: Hilton Accra Cantonments
Hilton is preparing to open its first hotel in Ghana, the Hilton Accra Cantonments, located in the affluent Cantonments suburb. The announcement was made prior to the Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF) held in Nairobi this week. The hotel’s prime location will be in Cantonments, an affluent suburb known for housing various embassies and high commissions. Situated less than six miles from Kotoka International Airport, Hilton Accra Cantonments aims to provide a convenient and accessible stay for travelers. This new hotel in Ghana is scheduled to welcome its first guests in December 2023.
New Hotel in Ghana: Growth and Amenities
Carlos Khneisser, Hilton’s vice president of development in the Middle East and Africa, expressed his excitement about the signing of Hilton Accra Cantonments, stating, “With this new addition, we are thrilled to expand our presence in Ghana and accelerate our plans to double our portfolio in Africa in the coming years.” Ghana, known as one of the world’s major producers of gold and cocoa, is also emerging as a popular tourist destination. Hilton’s entry into the Ghanaian market marks a significant milestone in their ongoing expansion throughout Africa.
Hilton Accra Cantonments will boast 145 rooms, providing guests with a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The hotel will feature a range of amenities, including a swimming pool, spa, and fitness center. Moreover, the hotel offers over 900 square meters of event space, catering to various occasions and gatherings.

Charles Mensa, the owner of High Street Development Company Limited, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership with Hilton, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Hilton in opening this exceptional news hotel in Ghana, which will soon grace the capital city of the country. Hilton’s Expansion Plans in Ghana and Africa
Hilton’s commitment to Ghana extends beyond Hilton Accra Cantonments. The hotel chain is planning to build three hotels in Ghana, including the Hilton Garden Inn Accra Liberation Road. Across the African continent, Hilton currently has 43 properties open or under construction, with an additional 65 properties in the planning stages.
