SUMMARY – HOTEL VERDE ACHIEVES AN UNPRECEDENTED LEVEL OF RENEWABLE ENERGY UTILIZATION WITH A SOLAR PANEL UPGRADE, OPERATING ENTIRELY OFF THE GRID DURING THE DAY AND CONTRIBUTING SURPLUS ENERGY BACK TO THE ESKOM GRID, SETTING AN EXAMPLE FOR SUSTAINABILITY IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY.
Hotel Verde takes environmental responsibility seriously, striving to implement innovative solutions that reduce their impact on the planet. Their dedication has resulted in an unprecedented achievement in renewable energy utilization.
Through the installation of 180 additional solar panels, the hotel’s generation capacity has soared by 100kW. This substantial upgrade boosts the total capacity to an impressive 158kW, a significant increase from the previous 58kW.
This advancement empowers Hotel Verde to conserve substantial energy throughout the day, leading the way towards a more sustainable future. Chief Technology Officer, David Pollock, expresses his enthusiasm, stating, “Our solar panel upgrade is a remarkable achievement. It enables us to operate off the grid during the day and contribute surplus energy to the Eskom grid. It aligns perfectly with our sustainability commitment, significantly reducing our environmental footprint.”
