The move unfolded as Pearl Hoareau Kakooza assumed the role of UTB’s first female chairperson. This achievement echoes Uganda’s commitment to gender diversity in leadership, following Lilly Ajarova’s appointment as the first female CEO in 2019.

The newly appointed Board, led by Kakooza, brings together individuals with diverse backgrounds from civil aviation, finance, wildlife, arts, crafts, tour operators, and hospitality. This rich blend of expertise ensures a well-rounded perspective for advancing Uganda’s tourism sector.

During the inauguration, Minister Butime lauded the outgoing Board for their contributions to Uganda’s global tourism appeal and cultural heritage preservation. He expressed confidence in the new Board’s ability to build upon these achievements for further sectoral advancement.
