Luxury Mobile Camp to Launch in Serengeti National Park by Wilderness
WILDERNESS PLANS TO LAUNCH A LUXURY MOBILE CAMP IN SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK, FOLLOWING THE GREAT MIGRATION, ALLOWING GUESTS TO EXPERIENCE THE WILDLIFE SPECTACLE UP CLOSE WHILE MINIMIZING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT.
In an exciting development, Wilderness is preparing to unveil a luxury mobile tented camp in July 2023, which will closely follow the renowned Great Migration of the Serengeti National Park. The camp will move in sync with the herd as it journeys throughout the year.
The migration route will be dotted with two strategically positioned camps that can be effortlessly packed up and relocated alongside the moving herd. Luxury Frontiers has been selected as the partner for interior design, while Charlotte Berney Design will contribute to the camp’s interiors. With six en-suite safari tents capable of accommodating 12 guests, Wilderness Usawa Serengeti will be situated within the Serengeti’s designated walking zones, enabling guided walks to commence directly from the camp.
Since the entire setup is mobile, no permanent structures will be left behind when the camp, which runs on solar power, moves. This ensures minimal impact on the environment. The tent accommodations feature rechargeable lights and charging stations, along with Wi-Fi and hot water amenities.
Grant Woodrow, Head of Wilderness New Business Development, comments on the significance of the camp’s name, Wilderness Usawa Serengeti, stating, “Usawa means ‘balance’ in Swahili. Amidst the chaos of thirsty and hungry animals driven by the desire to cross rivers, there is an unmistakable unity of purpose. Through cycles of birth and death, rainfall and drought, balance is ultimately restored on the plains. Wilderness Usawa Serengeti provides a secluded experience, away from the crowds yet close to the action.”
