A Tanzanian female tour operator has been recognized for her contribution to employment creation in the tourism industry. Zainab Ansell, the founder, and owner of Zara Tanzania Adventures, received the Malikia wa Nguvu award at a red-carpet reception held on March 25, 2023, in Dar-Es-Salaam. The award was presented by the Clouds Media Group, which celebrates outstanding women across Tanzania who have excelled in various spheres of life.

Ansell was recognized for her efforts in creating decent and massive employment opportunities in the tourism industry. Her company employs nearly 1,410 people on a permanent and seasonal basis, sustaining thousands of families in a country where unemployment is a significant social and economic challenge. Ansell has also supported the indigenous Maasai people by building a school for children under the age of seven and providing financial empowerment for Maasai women to sell their crafts to tourists.

Ansell’s company, Zara Tanzania Adventures, is one of the biggest and most prominent tour companies in the country. Despite being a woman in a male-dominated industry, Ansell has succeeded in touching thousands of lives and changing them for the better. Her company has helped to address unemployment and has given back to the local community through various initiatives, including first aid training sessions, English courses, HIV and AIDS education, and financial management training for nearly 900 porters. She has also initiated Zara Charity, which promotes sustainable tourism and supports vulnerable groups in Tanzania.
