In a bid to enhance the visitor experience, South African National Parks (SANParks) is introducing technological tools across its locations. Initially tested in Kruger National Park, these innovations will subsequently be implemented throughout the country’s national parks.

To bolster visitor satisfaction, SANParks is transitioning to a cashless system, augmenting internet services, and optimizing online booking procedures.
Cutting-Edge Camera Systems Combat Poaching and Enhance Security
As part of their anti-poaching measures, SANParks is deploying advanced camera systems. These systems serve a dual purpose: curbing poaching activities and monitoring vehicle movements. Leveraging technology, specially trained dogs are aiding in the capture of poachers.
A notable achievement has been the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment’s report of an 11% reduction in rhino poaching during the initial half of 2023, in comparison to the previous year.

SANParks has outlined plans to install cameras equipped with license plate recognition technology at park entrances and intersections.
